THE FOUNDER & EDITOR

Hello, I’m
Anastasia.

Anastasia Rouchota, founder and editor of Genes at First Sight

I’m interested in the science that sits closest to human life: how it begins, what shapes it and how we communicate it without losing either the evidence or the human being inside the story.

MY ROUTE INTO SCIENCE

From cells and genes to the earliest days of life.

I studied BSc Biomedical Sciences at Cardiff University, where I built the scientific foundation that still shapes the way I question evidence today.

I then completed an MSc in Clinical Embryology at the University of Leeds, moving closer to the questions I find impossible to stop thinking about: fertility, reproductive biology, genetics and the first stages of human development.

Living in London, Cardiff, Leeds and the wider Birmingham area has shaped the way I see science. I see it woven into ordinary life, in clinics and conversations, in relationships and in the decisions we make every day.

WHY GENES AT FIRST SIGHT EXISTS

“I did not create this journal to make science sound simpler than it is. I created it to make complexity feel possible to understand.”

Evidence, with a pulse.

Genes at First Sight is my independent editorial space for the subjects I care about most: fertility, embryology, genetics, women’s health and the research changing how we understand human life.

I read beyond the headline, question certainty and translate the science without flattening it. The aim is not to tell readers what to think. It is to give them enough clarity to think more deeply.
